Mayor Lovely A. Warren is proud to introduce a new look and name for the City of Rochester’s Comprehensive Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Program - now known as RISE (Reach Inside, Strive for Excellence). RISE is a collaboration of young leaders and caring adults who work together to help youth make well-informed choices to reduce rates of teen pregnancy and STD and HIV/AIDS. RISE is led by the City of Rochester and funded by a grant from the NYS Department of Health.
“With the new RISE campaign, the youth of our community are calling on us all – parents, caring adults, community partners and elected officials – to help them stay safe and reach their full potential,” said Mayor Warren. “Over the past few years, the City has led the way in making sure that youth get both facts about sexual behavior and access to proper health care. The fact that teen pregnancy rates are finally starting to come down, proves that our approach is working. I am proud of the youth who have collaborated with us on this new RISE campaign and will to continue to listen to their voices. Giving our youth the tools they need to make safe choices is part of our mission to create better educational opportunities in our community which leads to more jobs and safer, more vibrant neighborhoods.”
