As the first and only UNESCO City of Design in the United States, Detroit was invited as the guest city of honor by fellow UNESCO City of Design, Saint-Etienne, France, to show the world how Detroit is leveraging its legacy of creativity and innovation at the 10th edition of the Saint-Etienne International Design Biennale from March 9-April 9, 2017. More than 70 Detroiters attended the event which included three exhibitions exploring how America’s former industrial powerhouse is shaping the future of work to an audience of over 230,000.
The three exhibitions were:
> Footwork presented by the Detroit Creative Corridor Center and curated by Public Design Trust
> Shiftspace curated by Creative Many Michigan
> Out of Site curated by Akoaki
A showcase of this exhibition will be on preview from September 8-October 7, 2017 at the College for Creative Studies A. Alfred Taubman Center For Design Education.
