Once a patient herself, Denver Online High School junior Emily Kesselring invited her classmates to Children's Hospital Colorado this spring give back in a meaningful way. When she was in the eighth grade, she had surgery at Children’s Hospital Colorado and was hospitalized for a week.
Now, Emily, a junior at Denver Online High School, makes it a priority to give back.
Recently, Emily and her classmates volunteered Children’s Hospital, and participated in arts and crafts activities with patients and their families.
The Denver Online High School students had a shared goal: give kids the opportunity to be kids again, and provide patients and families with a sense of community to make the hospital feel more like home.
“It makes me feel like I’m a part of a community that wants to help each other and that if I was ever in a situation that I needed help, there would be people here for me, too,” said Mariah Bradford, a student at Denver Online High School.
