Black Seas is an ongoing multimedia installation and audiovisual performance project under the influence of historical and contemporary experiences of auditory hallucination.
It breathes in horror and weird fiction, film, music and sound studies, medical history, cognitive science, psychiatry, 19th century psychic journals, telecommunications theory, mysticism, philosophy, religion and shared stories.
It swims in ecstasy, terror and the banal.
Black Seas includes performance, music, radio broadcast, video, prints, objects and materials. The project is modular and adaptable in scale to various iterations including galleries, performance spaces, clubs, museums, basements, attics and radio waves. It can live for a single night, a few days, or over an extended exhibition.
