GREENFIELD TWP, PA—On Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 9:00AM, The Career Technology Center in conjunction with the Lackawanna County Workforce Investment Board and CareerLink is conducting a Green Career Linking Academy. This workforce solution was funded by a grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Labor's Employment and Training Administration. The participants have an opportunity to explore green careers in energy-efficient building, construction, manufacturing, renewable energy, and recycling.
Green Field Energy Solutions is providing participants with an opportunity to tour a "Net Zero" home project under construction as part of this program and they will see sustainable "green" practices and building materials used first hand. The owners of this project are pursuing an Energystar rating and Green Emerald Certification through National Association of Home Builders. This tour will give the participants an opportunity to see some of the topics discussed live and in-person and learn more about the implementation of solar PV, wind turbine, and geothermal renewable energy technology on site.
We hope that this opportunity will allow individuals to see how they can re-evaluate their skill sets and apply them to the new and emerging occupations in the "green careers" market. A second tour is planned on April 27, 2011 at 9:00AM.
