Enlightenment, faith and filthy lucre
It’s the 1780s, and science and faith are on a collision course. John Hunter is a visionary anatomist obsessed with life, death – and abnormal bodies. Charles Byrne is Georgian London’s biggest star, an 8ft-tall Irishman whom Hunter longs to cut up, and look inside. The Irish Giant plunges its bloody hands into history, to discover: who owns our bodies – and who should? Are we all just flesh and bone? And how do you live when death is daily shadowing your every step...?
The Irish Giant is a new show in development, devised by Cartoon de Salvo
