Everyone has seen professional wrestling; muscle bound athletes beating each other up and yelling at the crowd. It's all testosterone and sweat but we rarely get to meet the people that play these roles. "Opening Night' spends 3 hours leading up to the show seeing what the wrestlers are like before their characters take over. This fly on the wall documentary gives the viewer a rare glimpse behind the masks of this wrestling troupe on the night of their first public performance. These are ordinary people, teachers, bank tellers, mothers and fathers, who approach their sport with the same zeal that one would find backstage at the local community theater.
This short contains no voice over, no interviews and no scripting. Everything you see happened as the camera rolled, providing an intimate portrait of what occurred that evening.
