This video gives basic information about the Medical Returns Program in Canada.
Expired / unused pharmaceuticals are supposed to be returned to participating pharmacies in order for them to be incinerated. This prevents the drugs from making their way to the landfills, into the water supply, or into the wrong hands where they can be abused.
However, recent studies show that less than half of people are even aware of the program (study in British Columbia, results released January 2011).
We have permission to use the video for the duration of the Video and Social Media contest. The contest encourages people to use their video and/or social media skills to help get the word out about the program. Details about the contest and program can be found at http://www.pharmwaste.ca.
The video will be used by Social Media contestants who do not make their own videos, and by Video contestants who need additional information about the program.
