The Hunt podría ser el libro que reconcilia los mundos de la fotografía documental, el artístico y el de la creación de fotolibros. Con grandes dosis de investigación antropológica y periodística, Laiz documenta con delicadeza y perfección una mágica, pero también dura y arriesgada, historia con tintes animistas. La narrativa, lejos de ser tradicional, es una absorbente ensoñación plagada de evocaciones, fantasía, folclore y realidad, en una armonía que recuerda a una canción que pasa de padres a hijos.
El diseño interior recoge el viaje que tanto el autor como los cazadores siguen a través de un paisaje misterioso, repleto de misticismo y desafíos. El texto, la fotografía y la investigación se funden a través de las transparencias y superposiciones de la taiga nevada. Lo que más atrae de este objeto es lo redondo que es. No hay ni una nota que desafine. Todo está combinado de una forma suave, armónica y coherente, con “una extraña mezcla de estrategia e instinto”.

The Hunt could be the book that conciliates the documentary photography world, the artistic field and the photo-book making. With great doses of anthropologic and journalistic investigation, Laiz beautifully and delicately documents a fantastic and magic as rough and dodgy animistic story. The narrative far from being traditional, is an immersive dream of memories, fantasy, folklore and reality, put together as a song sung from parents to children.
The intrinsic design compiles the journey both the author and the hunters follows through a landscape of mystery, mysticism and human challenges. Text, photography and research merges across the transparencies and superpositions of the white taiga. What I like the most about this object is how rounded it is. There is not a single piece out of tune, all blends together in a soft, harmonic and coherent way, “a rare mix of strategy and instinct”.
