Renown Philadelphia artist James Dupree must fight the city of Philadelphia once his massive art studio falls victim to eminent domain for a new "super market" and land for Drexel University. For three years Dupree fights city hall as city officials section off parcels of land in Mantua in West Philadelphia. Residents are divided against Dupree as many are told that he's holding up jobs and neighborhood progress only to find out that they have been lied to for years. The documentary follows James during the three year hiatus and shows his art work, family life, and his fight to keep his studio in Mantua.
