A Union Pacific stack/intermodal train rolls east towards Chicago a few minutes before sunset. This is between Maple Park and Elburn, Illinois on the UP Geneva sub. Taken about 15 minutes before sunset.
Not the best sunset, but when I've had better sunsets there were no trains to be found. But on this evening, the UP sent the trains that I requested. So it all came together. I chose to tilt the wide camera up more than normal to capture addition sky.
A super tool for determining sunset times and locations on the horizon is the "The Photographer's Ephemeris" available at photoephemeris.com/ . I used it for this shooting session. The sunset was about 6 degrees away from the direction of the tracks.
