Praised for its simplicity, tenkara is the traditional Japanese form of fly-fishing that uses minimum equipment consisting of a rod, a line, and a fly (no reel). This method of fishing dates back centuries in Japan, but has only recently begun to gain attention here in the US in the past decade. Tenkara can be learned by nearly every individual at almost any age, and allows anglers to focus more attention on fishing rather than equipment.
