Multi-Tiered System of Support, or MTSS, is an inclusive system of support for all students, and encompasses Universal Support, Additional Support, and Intensified Support. Second in the MTSS Trilogy, this short SWIFT clip by Dan Habib highlights how SWIFT schools implement Additional Support: interventions for specific skills often given to small groups of students that last only as long as needed. School leaders use Universal Screening to predict which students need support beyond what Universal Support offers, in order to include every child in the general education classroom. Schoolwide Integrated Framework for Transformation (SWIFT) is a national K through 8 technical assistance center that builds school capacity to provide academic and behavioral support to improve outcomes for all students through equity-based inclusive education.
