The awards were presented by Drew Dellinger, PhD, at the 17th International IONS Conference in Oakland, CA, July 2017.
Drew Dellinger, PhD, is an internationally known writer, speaker, poet, and teacher who has been working at the intersection of cosmology, story, worldview, justice, ecology, art, and action for 25 years. He is the author of Love Letter to the Milky Way and The Mountaintop Vision: Martin Luther King’s Cosmology of Connection.
Our Consciousness in Action Award Winners:
Kendra Krueger is a scientist, professor, and community organizer who uses concepts of social justice,
permaculture, theater, physics, and mindfulness to facilitate processes of inquiry, discernment, and liberation. She holds a BS/MS in electrical engineering and assists local healers, artists, and educators with STEM content and protocols in their work.
Marcelo Garzo Montalvo (Mapuche/Xicanx) is a transnational indigenous cultural activist, musician, ceremonial dancer, educator, and PhD Candidate in Comparative Ethnic Studies at UC Berkeley. His art, research and activism focuses on decolonization, critical pedagogy and inter-generational, intercultural healing.
J.R. Furst- The exploration of truth has been, and continues to be, the focus of J.R.’s life and work—from sports poetry and youth art, to incarcerated visionaries who were once strangers and are now akin to family. J.R. has a way of distilling meaning and asking questions that matter, probing ever-deeper layers of life to find core truths.
