Sisyphus Ascending

A poetic interpretation of the myth of Sisyphus.
The show is a poetic, incisive and funny interpretation of the Greek myth of Sisyphus, condemned to roll a stone up a mountain again and again in all eternity. Portrayed through a visually and physically strong piece of modern circus.

The Modern Sisyphus
We find ourselves in an office with an oversized bookcase, a table full of strange sounds and uncontrollable piles of paper. Here we meet a modern Sisyphus in a suit, and his audacious attempts to break out of life’s perpetual repetitions.
What must he conquer to escape his penalty?
Will he seek freedom from within?

An elegant social critique providing questions about our workhabits and the belief that work can ever be finished.

Acrobatics with speech and live sounds
The sound frame is a mirroring accompaniment, a wonderful mix of wildly twisted sounds, loops of paper´s rattle as they fall down from the shelves, melodious tones and a whole lot more. The musician Johan Segerberg has given the sound soul and accomplishes in making the scenography a worthy co-player.

Duration: 60 minutes
