Biographie combines my 20 years in customer service and extensive figure modeling in a piece with audience participation. Experienced and non experienced participants take part in a guided figure drawing class with me as the model and the teacher and their assistants. During poses, I begin to narrate my experience on being black, queer, immigrant and female while supporting myself as a working artist in customer service. Dialogue shifts to moments of having to work after the 2016 election and also having to restrategize how I earned income after having been diagnosed with Lupus on December 14 2016 This piece grew out of EmergeNYC as a combination of an assignment exploring personal biography and an earlier street performance where I explored the concept of service. I dressed up as a boy scout and handed out water out to people in 90 degree weather.
