ANGAIR (Anglesea, Aireys Inlet Society for the Protection of Flora and Fauna)

ANGAIR is a recipient of the CCMA's Small Coastal Grants Program. ANGAIR (Anglesea, Aireys Inlet Society for the Protection of Flora and Fauna) is dedicated to protecting the local area’s indigenous flora and fauna, and to maintaining the natural beauty of Anglesea and Aireys Inlet and their local environments.

The group participates in a wide range of environmental projects in conjunction with Parks Victoria, the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning, the Surf Coast Shire, the Great Ocean Road Coast Committee, Corangamite CMA and Alcoa of Australia Limited who has a lease over a large area of heathland to the north of Anglesea.

Some of these projects include rehabilitation of disused gravel pits, restoration of eroded tracks and creek crossings, pest plant (weed) removal and planting of indigenous species.

ANGAIR plays an active educational role in talking to students and other community groups – developing an awareness and an understanding of the biodiversity of the area and in assisting school and university students with their research projects.
