WARNING: THIS VIDEO CONTAINS FLASHING IMAGES
This video is part of an ongoing series of challenges set between myself and Midbit (http://www.youtube.com/user/midbit).
In this instance we gave one another 60 seconds to take a series of photographs, whilst simultaneously capturing video evidence of ourselves doing so.
Once the material had been captured, we conducted an exchange and set ourselves the task of producing a 60 second video using the source material provided. In my case I was given images captured using a USB microscope (Note: if you would like to see each of the stages in their entirety you can view them at vimeo.com/lamblerk/jigsawpiecemovementstages).
When assembling the images I created a series of short clips in which I treated the images as jigsaw pieces, fitting them together using a variety of methods, and focusing upon how they might visually correspond to one another. I then treated the movement contained within each of these clips as transition effects, fitting them together in a 60 second sequence. When constructing this sequence it was decided to focus upon the shapes, lines, and textures on display.
Although I'd have liked to have used every single image I was provided with, I found it difficult working each sequence into the final video, and eventually decided it would be best to leave the two hair sections out.
As for the audio; this was stripped from the video file I was given, it was then treated with an 8-bit/bit-crusher effect, and then chopped up and rearranged to compliment the visuals.
