This is for my grad show space. I wanted people to remember my name and have fun, so what better way than giving them a small puzzle.
If everyone is far away, nothing happens and they can watch my reel. But if they step closer, they slowly reveal part of my name with particles. And with teamwork, they can reveal my whole name. This achieves multiple things. First, it's a great way to snap people from an observing state to an active, fun state. Second, it's a great way to attract more people to my space. And finally, it's a great ice breaker to talk about my motion and installation work.
How I did it?
By smashing two processing libraries (openKinect and openCV) along with some custom particle coding, I was able to make certain depths become particle emitters. These particles then travel to the middle, but along the way, they get stuck on my name.
