I recently came across an Internet chat with a raging discussion about parrots in London. I simply picked up certain points of view expressed by the participants and with that in mind went to Richmond Park and shot the video.
The parrots themselves proved to be very difficult to shoot.
What I found interesting and what prompted me to do this video is the tone of the polemics. The type of arguments used here are probably the same that would have been applied to foreign people a few decades back. Also interesting is the way that the conversation progressed. At first the views were being expressed carefully, as to gauge the reaction. If there was a strong sentiment - it quickly snowballed and that would deter people of opposing opinion from posting.
Just as I was working on the video - government department in charge of environment (DEFRA) announced that they wanted to get rid of Monk Parakeets and proposed culling as one of the possible solutions.
Anyway, something to think about regardless of your personal bias.
