'Artifact #1' is the first in a new series by Doug Goodwin. The series examines formal abstractions implicit in cinema. In this case I wanted to see how it would look to fill in the gaps in the flow of imagery produced by the rotating shutter. Light is gathered from neighboring frames and expanded to cover the gaps. I liked the effect so much that I expanded the sample to 12 seconds. What results is a flow of long-exposure images that doesn't disturb the flow of time.
