Man. Manly. Masculine.
Masculine manly man.
We’ve had to put up with it all, from boys don’t cry to grow some balls. Enough! What hides beneath the monolithic notion of ‘masculinity’? What is it (or should feel like) to be a man? I am still trying to figure it out...
In September 2014 I started my first solo project, Masculine Expressions of my Creative Prowess. Until May 2015 it had six different outings, each one unique, in six very different contexts: a pop up theatre, a club, a gallery, a pub...
Now, three years on, I am returning to this ongoing live art project and to the treacherous terrain of 'masculinity'.
Part of Come As You Are, a three-week festival interrogating and celebrating gender from cis to trans, from binary to beyond.
