A Photo Story by Debbie McAlilly Brangenberg
Debbie McAlilly Brangenberg showcases a group of young entrepreneurs who are transforming Main Street, while remembering the early builders of Tupelo's vibrant downtown.
"I hope that people will get excited about what is happening, and be a part of the revitalization effort led by businesses downtown. The essence of 'Tupelo Spirit' is that we 'can' make things happen. As Mitch McCamey says, 'It’s the last frontier, you can do anything.'" - Debbie Brangenberg, Downtown Tupelo Main Street Association Director
“It's encouraging to me to know that we have the support of the generations before us, especially Main Street and Debbie. That gives us a lot of strength and confidence that we’re on the right track." - Amanda Hayden (Co-owner with Jason Hayden), Cafe 212

Tupelo is one of ten cities elected to participate in “Celebrating Storytelling”, a Mississippi Bicentennial project that will culminate with 100 community voices.
In August 2017, community leaders produced a series of eight photo documentaries, highlighting people and initiatives that have built Tupelo from its beginnings. The event was a unique occasion to celebrate aspects of “Tupelo spirit” that have carried the community from generation to generation, and to define new pathways forward.
