Biotrem is a Polish company that develops biodegrabable and edible wheat bran-based tableware. It was founded by Mr. Jerzy Wysocki, miller and inventor, two decades ago to contribute to reducing wheat bran waste. Althogh part of wheat bran surplus is used as animal feed and as a source of dietary fiber in the manufacturing of foodstuff by the food industry, large amounts of it are wasted every year as its characteristics make it a liability for cereal producers. Mr. Jerzy Wysocki decided to build a technology that could turn bran into biodegradable and edible tableware and cutlery. After only two years commercialising it, Biotrem already produces 15 million pieces a year and they are currently under expansion.
