Soyeon Ahn, Seoul National University Bundang Hospital
I will describe overview of the recent outbreak of Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) Korea 2015. MERS is a viral respiratory disease caused by a novel coronavirus (MERS‐CoV) that was first identified in Saudi Arabia in 2012. Since 2015, a total of 186 persons have been infected by the MERS-CoV, 38 of whom have died. I reviewed some research conducted to reveal epidemiological, virological, and clinical aspects of MERS and summarized myths and misconceptions about the MERS as well as strategic methods, models, and morals.
