For Ari, tells the story of Ari Schultz. When I first read about Ari I fell in love with the kid he was born with a heart defect that left him ill for most of his life, this past February he received news that he was getting a new heart. The video of his reaction went viral. His response was incredible and the first thing he asked his dad was if they would be able to go to a Red Sox game this summer. I reached out to the family and spoke with the father Mike Schultz about his son. The Schultz family, through all that they were going through as a family, treated me with kindness. Mr Schultz told me about his boy, about his kindness, his innocence, and his love for baseball. Ari got his heart and was recovering but dealing with rejection. He was deemed healthy enough to be spent home and celebrated by playing a game of whiffle ball with his father in the hospital play area. The video went viral and the Red Sox came through, Xander Bogaerts and Christain Vazquez surprised Ar at his home and spent the whole day playing with the boy in his front yard Christian Vazquez took the opportunity to tell Ari that he would be honored by the team by throwing out the first pitch on August 27th. Unfortunately this was a dream that Ari would never get the chance to realize as he tragically passed away on July 21st. Ari's family decided to go through with the throwing of the first pitch, making the trip to Fenway Park in Ari's memory.
