The documentary “ItaliAvista [ItalyAtsight]” set itself as a “box” of stories about integration and cultural exchange. Starting from William Blake’s famous sentence "Without Contraries is no Progression", the documentary propose to go over the patterns imposed by the native culture, which are usually preserved unconsciously in our behaviour... it’s therefore necessary to be able to observe our own culture when observing someone else's one. The project includes interviews with foreign citizens full integrated in the social structure of Bologna: four immigrants [two men and two women] tell their stories throght the eyes of an Italian friend, and the video camera plays the role of simple observer of the conversation. The aim is the creation of a portrait of Italy from a “different” point of view. From a “local” situation [ Bologna city ] to the universal issues of integration problems, difficulties in comprehension between persons of different backgrounds, and therefore of dialogue between cultures.
