[Note: I apologize for the poor visual quality of this video; it was made from a PAL-format (European) VHS tape that was copied from a Betamax master, since lost, recorded by a prosumer-grade video camera, as the slide show was projected on a white wall “screen” at AVC (Audio Visual Centrum) studio in Stockholm, Sweden.]
This show used 30 Kodak S-AV slide projectors—the maximum that could be programmed using an Audio Visual Laboratories [AVL] Eagle computer and Dove dissolve units | The extreme “fire-power” was aimed at three screens; eighteen on the center screen, with six each on the flanking left and right screens. The extremely-wide screen layout accommodated the low ceiling in the banquet hall at Kolmården, Sweden, where the show was first performed. | This was the show that brought me to Sweden, together with my wife, Sandra Sande, in the late winter of 1984, to design it and direct its production, at Audio Visual Centrum [AVC], in Stockholm. | Written, directed, designed and programmed by Douglas Mesney | Original photography (beauty shots) by Saab Studios and AVC’s Bengt Sundalin; animated sequences by me, Douglas Mesney | Library music & mix by Tommy Bergqvist at AVC | Narrated by Brad Crandall, recorded at Silverlake Studios by Brad Pinkstaff | Opticals and effects by AVC’s Filip Järnehag | Optical art by Tim Geyer, Sandra Sande, Rick Gulledge and others | More information at mesney.com.
