Would you bet on a horse with odds of 1 in 10 followed by 123 zeros? For biological evolution to take place, that is, for random chance to produce the first living cell that could self replicate the chance is even higher. The statistical odds are 1:10^123 (that's one in 10 followed by 123 zeros), followed by another 1:10^240, and one more 1:10^147 years!
Scientist will tell you that anything beyond 50 zeros is impossible. That makes the likelihood of one cell that can self replicate coming into being by random selection 10.2 times beyond impossible!
This leaves the logical thinker looking for a more rational genesis to our origins.
In this first of 13 In Search of the Truth programs Charles Byrd considers his two options.
