Amputations are some of the most widespread, serious and debilitating workplace injuries involving a variety of activities and equipment. Each year, thousands of workers lose fingers, hands, feet and other body parts – mostly through compression, crushing or by getting them caught between or struck by objects. To help raise awareness, the Region VI OSHA Office and Region VI OSHA Education Centers (Mid-South, TEEX and UTA) are providing a free video on amputation hazards and the severity of amputation injuries. The one-hour video will focus on the severity of these injuries and financial impact, machine guarding, and lockout/tagout.
