In what should have been an historic day for marine conservation, critical feeding and breeding areas for unique marine life have been left out of proposed new sanctuaries in South West Australia released by the Federal Government today.
Too many concessions have been given to the oil and gas industry, and now with public comment being invited, we need to mobilise if we are to rescue this great opportunity to protect our whales.
The proposal fails to protect blue, southern right, humpbacks and humpback whales well as sea lions, unique fish and sharks. They remain at risk from seismic testing, drilling and oil spills.
* PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD WITH THIS VIDEO *
In the next week we will launch the campaign to get these important areas secured. We have 90 days to secure these places for the whales.
