Music: Garden Of The Forking (cc-by-nc) by J.Lang
Gource is easier to compile and install than code_swarm. It is also much faster because it uses your video card to render the files. Download it directly ad 3000Kbps in Theora video codec with vorbis audio from paconet.org/lilypond/test3000KTheora.ogv
Gource shows authors moving around the file tree, whereas code_swarm was more author-centric and the files did move to and from authors that touched them. The Gource approach has the advantage that you can see what directories does an author prefer or does spend more time into.
Finding a good set of command-line options is very hard and time-consuming. The time scale is not lineal because high-activity periods spend more time on making all events to happen.
(A note aside: I love command line tools in part because your actions are fully repeatable.)
A new stable release of GNU LilyPond is coming hopefully soon. LilyPond developers community has grown on a year-by-year basis, see paconet.org/lilypond-statistics/authors.html
GNU LilyPond is the GNU music typesetter, an interpreter to make very good-looking music scores from code written in a powerful language that is easy to learn and suitable both for simple songs and complex orchestral music.
