Dana and I went 1hr north of Truckee to a zone I had never explored. The Sierra Buttes always seemed like it was a small, low elevation, hardly-worth-the-time spot, but I came, I saw, and now I understand. The Sierra Buttes are way bigger than I expected, and there is a season's worth of lines to explore there. There is a perfect time to go there, either in the dead of winter when you can still cross the lakes safely, or in the spring when the road to the lakes is clear. I have been enlightened. Enjoy!
