On June 18, 2017 at approximately 2:00AM, San Francisco Police officers responded to 11th Street and Folsom regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, they located the victim, Carlo Tateo, a 31year-old Oakland resident, on the sidewalk. Tateo was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and officers rendered aid until relieved by responding paramedics. Tateo was transported to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital where, despite the efforts of emergency medical personnel, he died from the injury.
On September 20, 2017 the San Francisco Police Department held a media availability at Police Headquarters to update the public on the investigation. Homicide investigators released surveillance video showing three persons of interest in this case. Members of Tateo’s family were also present and made an appeal for witnesses to come forward and provide information to investigators.
