The Live Model (2017) explores regulatory systems that affect people in a variety of locations, including Bristol, Cardiff and Merthyr Tydfil.
Invited participants (local residents, council workers, community workers, councillors) were taken on an immersive performance guided by The Control Voice and The Reality Guide.
They experienced abstract regulation made visible. They experienced The Live Model.
The resulting film is not a documentary of the experience.
It is an artwork drilling down through the 'Regulatory Stack' of social theory, cultural customs, religious beliefs and political viewpoints that create and shape regulation as a lived experience.
The Live Model was commissioned by the University of Bristol as part of the research project Productive Margins - productivemargins.ac.uk
