It has been thrilling to see the new Mount Si High School take shape over the past few months.
Installation of the steel framework is complete for Areas A and B. The concrete floors are being installed, with the walls and a roof soon to follow. This will create a relatively dry work area for construction to continue at full speed during the wet winter months ahead.
In the meantime, foundation work and the steel fabrication process continues for the remaining Phase 1 areas of: C, D, E and F. By mid-October, steel workers will return to the site to install the framework for these areas. The Mount Si High School project remains on schedule for an opening in the Fall of 2019.
In addition to the high school construction, the district has worked on numerous other capital projects over the summer.
At Snoqualmie Elementary School, contractors have begun digging the footings and pouring the foundation for the new gymnasium… and, construction on the building will soon follow.
North Bend Elementary School received a facelift, with new exterior paint, weatherization and repairs. The roof on the gymnasium at the Freshman Campus is being replaced. And, additional modular classrooms were installed at Fall City and Timber Ridge elementary schools to allow for further reductions to class sizes for grades Kindergarten through third.
The Transition Learning Center program moved into new modular classrooms located next to Two Rivers School in downtown North Bend. The new facility better meets the needs of this growing program teaching life skills and career training for special needs students ages 18 to 21.
