The Renegade Orchestra: Journey One tells the story of three members of a utopian ensemble of individuals drawn from across the Post-Soviet States. These musicians, now stars in contemporary classical music, folk music, jazz and electronic, who have torn themselves away from the traditional classical world, where they trained in Soviet and Post-Soviet conservatoires from Leningrad to Tashkent, and are now stars in contemporary classical music, folk music, jazz and electronica. Together, under the direction of a composer/ conductor, they seek refuge in their shared memories of a Soviet childhood, a place where despite the political, social and economic difficulties of the time, they were once happy.
