Soundwave ((7)) Biennial Architecture
July 29, 2016
Soundwave is a festival of cutting-edge art and music experiences produced by MEDIATE Art Group. Each two-year festival season investigates a new idea through sound. This season of Soundwave will explore their sonic relationships to architecture, with site-specific performances at Grace Cathedral. Renowned for its thoughtful curation and unique programming in diverse spaces and places, Soundwave brings together creators from across the sonic spectrum to discover new connections through sound-making and the sound experience.
ONA Architecture of Body, will immerse the audience in layers of voices and sine waves as they illuminate and fragment the female form. A piece composed for five voices, sine waves, light and dancer, ONA focuses on the flexibility, pain, strength, exuberance, trauma and healing that the female body and psyche experience before, during and after childbirth.
She explores the tension between the body and technology, nature and architecture, and the relationship between sound and light. These elements intersect in works that focus on dissecting form and creating transformation. People most commonly describe her work as cinematic.
