"Ladder Day" began with an investigation into the moral authority invested in a person in a very large dress. A secondary point of departure was the display of dioramas at the visitors' center at the Mormon Temple in Salt Lake City, which illustrate various episodes from the book of Mormon through life-size scenes enacted by mannequins, accompanied by videos of identically-dressed actors performing the exact same pseudo-historical tasks. These elements combined produce an interrogation of the role of documentation, evidence, dance, chronotopic landmarks, and authority in modern spiritual and artistic experience, through the lens of a panachronistic survey of stereotypes of lone women and "hysteria" in American popular culture. The video was made by Eleanor Ray during her recent residency at the Rhiger Ranch, and was co-directed by Ben Rhiger. Soundtrack: "Salty Dogs" by Sunny Delight Feat. Gwen White.
