These kids lived on our block in Havana and would always play ball with us. We taught them how to football and would spend weekends playing soccer and baseball--their preferred sports. We decided one weekend to arrange a neighborhood game at the local school. The morning was a rainstorm and the game was cancelled except for one of the boys, Aldo, didn't accept rain as a proper excuse.
We waited the wetness out while the boys practiced on the block and then returned to the schoolyard where we found some of the more well-to-do kids of the neighborhood willing to play some pickup.
