Melissa Allensworth was paralyzed as the result of an accident caused when she was driving under the influence. From that day, her life has changed not only because she must use a wheelchair, but because she sees her life now as a second chance. In 2017, Melissa was awarded an Able Flight Scholarship, and after challenging herself through hard work, she has become a licensed pilot.
Melissa is active in her work with the Triumph Foundation, an organization whose mission is to "help children, adults, and Veterans with spinal cord injury/disorder to triumph over their disability and to inspire them to keep moving forward with their lives by pushing themselves to get better every day".
A special thanks to flight instructor Molly Van Scoy for teaching Melissa to fly, and to Bombardier for their support of Melissa's scholarship. Melissa is the 2017 recipient of the Bombardier/Able Flight Scholarship.
