Android devices have become powerful and popular computing systems around the world. Their processing capabilities, along with the hardware integration of sensors, communication peripherals and GPUs make them interesting alternative platforms to build a robot on. Recent incorporation of AR technology in mobile devices like Google Tango improves their perception of the physical environment, opening a new range of possibilities. In this session we will show how to build an Android-powered robot that we call Tangobot - an autonomously navigating robot consisting of a Tango phone and a Kobuki base - as a ready to use starting point to build other Android-powered robots.
