Little workflow test:
Shot on Canon 5D Mark II (kit lens)
Directly imported on iPad2 with the Camera Connection Kit
Graded with CinemaFX for iPhone
Edited with iMovie for iPad
Uploaded with Vimeo for iPhone
[UPDATE: 1080p videos can now be edited on iPad2: toskian.com/?p=125]
The Apple camera connexion kit lets you import videos and photos from your favorite DSLR directly in the photo library of your iPad, without using a computer. The iPad2 can import 1080p files from my 5D but does not read them. However, I had no problem with videos recorded in 640*480. iMovies for iPad cannot read them (ReelDirector does), which was ok for me since I wanted to grade them before editing on CinemaFX. Exports from CinemaFX played great in iMovie.
So we can shoot low res movies (with great optics) on our DSLRs, do a quick post prod on iPad and upload them in a few minutes.
I'm now dreaming of a video encoder app on iPad that would pick up 1080p movies from the photo library and transform them into an iPad friendly 720p .mp4
A work around: Jailbreak
