Series Description :
The 7 episode series we filmed/edited for Discovery Channel India over 3 months covering an epic journey of 4 adventurers (Shilpika, Spike, Kumaran, Pascal) attempting to Standup Paddle Board the entire length of river Ganges, from the glacial source in Himalayas to Bay of Bengal.
It took the team 101 days and 2977 kms of paddling to achieve the amazing feat. The team had set out on this journey with the aim of spreading awareness on cleaner waters and their experience, interactions all throughout the adventure brought them even closer to their purpose.
Episode 1 : the origin of adventure
The GangesSUP team treks high into the himalayas to Guamukh, the glacial snout of the river Ganges. From here the team starts its long 3 month long completely human powered expedition, to traverse the whole length of the 3000km long river; till its end in in the Bay of Bengal. They begin paddle-boarding from Devprayag, the confluence of Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rives. This point is regarded as start of the Ganga river. Paddle boarding from this altitude is a feat that has never been attempted before. The team has to negotiate dangerous white water rapids all the way till the holy town of Rishikesh, the Gateway to the Plains. This leg of the journey takes the team 15 days which includes seven days of trekking, five days of cycling and three days of paddle- boarding.
