About the Lecture:
Anna Kirkman, JD, serves as both Associate Counsel and Director of the Medical-Legal Partnership at Eskenazi Health. As Associate Counsel, Anna handles a variety of legal issues, including civil commitment hearings, employment matters, managed care contracts, hospital billing, and other federal and state health law matters. As Director of the Medical-Legal Partnership, she works to bring medical and legal professionals together to address patients’ social determinants of health. At Eskenazi Health, she also serves on the Ethics Committee. To further her knowledge in this area, she completed the Fairbanks Center for Medical Ethics Fellowship in May 2017. Anna serves on local non-profit boards Indy Reads, ArtMix, and the Indiana Health Advocacy Coalition. She was named by the Indianapolis Business Journal as part of the 2017 “Forty under 40” class. Anna grew up in Indianapolis and currently lives with her husband and son in the Butler-Tarkington neighborhood.
The Charles Warren Fairbanks Center for Medical Ethics sponsors the Fairbanks Ethics Lecture Series as an educational outreach to physicians and staff of Indiana University Health hospitals and interested others in the central Indiana community. Lectures are free, open to all, and do not require pre-registration. Continuing education credit is offered to physicians, nurses, social workers, and chaplains at no charge, regardless of their institutional affiliation.
