Blood In Winter

Blood In Winter

Keelyn Bradley

Using archival footage, creative commons source material, and surveillance video, this détournement style documentary shows the police killing of 12-year-old Tamir Rice on November 22, 2014 in the context of slavery, anti-black terrorism, civil and human rights, and the carceral state. This work is a good example of digital storytelling as curatorial practice. What we choose to tell or not tell, as well as the narrative devices we use in the telling (form and content), affects how an audience receives the story. Juxtaposing several different narrative forms, the film challenges its audience to see and hear differently.
