On 9 October 2017, the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) organised an evening on the way science is changing, in collaboration with the Young Academy, the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study (NIAS) and the Amsterdam Public Library (OBA).
During the evening, three panel discussions were held about topics that challenge our scientific paradigm.
During the first panel on consciousness, Sarah Durston, professor of Development Disorders of the Brain, University Medical Centre Utrecht, gave a brief introduction on the problem with consciousness, and why we need to think about it differently.
This was followed by a discussion with:
- Sarah Durston
- Jenny Slatman, professor of Medical Humanities, Tilburg University
- Eveline Crone, professor of Neurocognitive Developmental Psychology, Leiden University, and
- book co-author Ton Baggerman, psychotherapist.
