Documentation of our installation at Fotomuseum Winterthur, September 2017.
The piece consists of a room with digitally printed vinyl canvasses which are illuminated by flashing lights, which respond to the audio in the room. The design of the prints is a diagram of the generative system used to produce the interactive audio and the prints correspond with virtual sculptures which can be seen by putting on VR headset and exploring the room. As visitors explore the virtual scape, their movements trigger changes in the generative audio composition, which is being played over four loudspeakers in the ceiling. This way, the VR user becomes the performer of the piece to the audience of other people in the room, modulating the light and sound as they move through a parallel reality.
