Andy Houseman and I have just returned from the Hinku Valley in Nepal where we were hoping to try a new route on Kyashar, a 6770 metre mountain that has only had one ascent.

The weather didnt play the game so we opted for the West Ridge, a line that had only previously had one ascent.

Covered in deep snow we chose to by-pass the rock pillar by traversing out onto the West Face... MISTAKE.
