Session Description: Entrepreneurship and innovation have the potential power to create fundamental and critical change to our world. Yet, many---and perhaps most---remain marginalized from meaningful and authentic participation. And the revolution will fall short without them as we need to address the world's intractable problems and beckoning opportunities from a host of perspectives. Those of us that are in the system, and have created parts of the system, must embrace radical inclusion to change the system to nail open the doors for participation. In this VC, we will explore the upside of system change, multiple perspectives and what radical steps we must take personally to move in this direction. Calling all changeleaders, changemakers, social innovators, and entrepreneurs, let's join the revolution!
Meet Art: Art Sherwood. Entrepreneur. Institutional Innovator. Gritty Change Leader. Courageous Collaborator. Eternal Student. He is the David Cole Professor of Entrepreneurship at Western Washington University. Dr. Sherwood directs Western’s university wide IDEA Institute, co-chairs USASBE’s Minority and Women Special Interest Group, and engages as an Affiliated Faculty with both the Vincent and Elinor Ostrom Workshop and WWU’s Institute for Energy Studies. His research now focuses on entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystems and programs that increase access for non-traditional participants. Currently an owner of CDS Consulting Co-op, he is also the #2 with his wife on their next start-up adventure in specialty travel.
"I imagine a world where we no longer design to control entrepreneurship and innovation, rather, we design systems and act to unleash while tearing down the walls barring meaningful participation."
